Mojácar belongs to Spain’s most famous region Andalucía. Because of the regions excellent infrastructure, after just 45 minutes drive from Almería airport you reach one of the most beautiful, picturesque and fascinating parts of the Spanish coastline: Mojácar. Steeped in Moorish history, Mojácar offers a fantastic backdrop of mountains, long sandy beaches, nature reserves, several top class 18 hole golf courses and a typical Spanish atmosphere with quaint old buildings and a host of facilities and an excellent choice of bars, restaurants and cafés. A hilltop village of whitewashed houses and a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets packed with tiny shops, just 1.5km inland from the more modern resort and beach area of Mojácar Playa.

Today, Mojácar remaind loyal to the past which is reflected in its architecture and the openness of the residents who inherited their hospitality and friendly welcome from their forbearers. Perhaps one result of this is the ‘Indalo’ or ‘Mojácar Man’ which can be seen painted on the outsides of many houses. Giving a person an Indalo is meant to bring them good luck and protection.

Apart from Mojácar, historical cities such as Almería and Granada are definitely worth a visit. Also ski lovers can also enjoy some of Europes best slopes, in the area of the Sierra Nevada, Granada (2 hours from Mojácar) which in summer time turns itself into the ideal area for mountain biking, walking or canoeing.
The nature reserve of Cabo de Gata, only 30 minutes drive from this community, offers hikers and beach lovers paradise with the numerous mountains and secludes coves and bays.
